To support the International Economy Unit in the Department “Markets and Business” we are looking for a qualified 

Project Manager Sustainable Economy (m/f/d)

The position involves the following activities in particular:

  • Support WWF‘s international transformational work towards a sustainable global economy
  • Assist with the conceptual development and implementation of our market intelligence unit and in-house ‘think and do’ tank.
  • Conduct research work and provide technical guidance of market analysis, methodology development and studies (e.g. industry sector analysis) with the objective to enhance the integration of economic insights into conservation programs.
  • Support in the development of strategies, methods and models for sustainable economic activity (e.g. future transition paths for an economy within planetary boundaries) in cooperation with scientific, economic and political institutions and organizations.
  • Coordination and implementation of corresponding projects in the international WWF network.
  • Operational-administrative support (preparation of position papers, decision memos, presentations)

You identify with WWF's goals and have:

  • A PhD or a university degree in economics or related fields as well as first professional experience in the above-mentioned field of activity
  • Experience in scientific work and very good methodological knowledge in research, data processing, impact analysis as well as monitoring and evaluation
  • Overview and background knowledge on global economic and sustainability concepts as well as expertise on the current state of research in this field of activity
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following sustainability approaches: Ecological limit concepts, market instruments and interventions (e.g. standards and science-based targets), nature valuation or environmental accounting
  • Strategic, conceptual and systemic thinking as well as independent, result-oriented working practices
  • Assertiveness, negotiation skills, a confident appearance and a high degree of social and intercultural competence
  • Command of the English language – both written and orally
